UNHCR Country Information and Legal Evaluation   
UNHCR web site, includes some useful texts such as international instruments, a copy of the UNHCR Handbook you can download (in small sections), and the UNHCR Executive Committee ("excom") Conclusions -which are recommendations on various topics which sometimes comment in greater depth on interpretation of the convention. Includes complete text of convention and Geneva Convention of conduct in war and civil war. Also, links to reports on individual countries, including some of the older IRB Responses to Information Requests.

Bayefsky.com  is a guide to United Nations human rights treaties.
There are many Amnesty sites set up by various chapters around the world. At times it is difficult to find or download a document on one site, but easy on another. Also some have more comprehensive listings of press releases or urgent actions. There are more sites than those listed here.
Amnesty International Library   is an effective search engine for finding both current and historical AI publications.

Committee to Protect Journalists   has a very well-organized site which gives annual reports, and specific reports on attacks on journalists throughout the world. Organized by region and country. Easy to access. Annual report gives good overview of extent to which there is freedom/repression of the press in a country. The front page is excellent for late-breaking news concerning problems facing journalists around the world.

Anti-Slavery Homepage   Founded in the 18th
century to oppose the slave trade, the agency now primarily reports on abuses
such as trafficking in women and children.
International Federation for Human Rights - FIDH   FIDH is an international human rights agency which works in cooperation
with local human rights organizations. Publishes in-depth reports on human rights issues in various
countries. Web site is presented
in French, English, Spanish and Arabic, though some reports are only available
in French.
World Organization against Torture   publishes urgent action bulletins on
incidents of torture in various countries. Web site is in English, French and
Spanish (not all reports are translated to each language).
International
Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission:   Frequently updated human rights reports, also has an Asylum
Documentation Program which can assist with referrals to lawyers in the US and
Canada who have represented claimants from particular countries and agreed to
share research, and prepares packages of news and human rights reports.
IRB Web Page:   useful for searching information requests database from office (seems similar to searching at the documentation centre) and for searching selected decision summaries in reflex magazine.
The Washington Post   Continues to provide a cite for international news, though its once excellent search engine is gone.
New York Times   All the news that fits on your screen but you have to register.
CNN world news
Miami Herald   Since its makeover its coverage of Latin America seems reduced, but it's still more than in most other newspapers.
